Say hello to Hugo

Where to start? It’s been a long time now since I last touched this website. So long ago that I’ve had time to reinstall my computer twice, I think, and during those reinstalls, my Jekyll setup was lost. Jekyll is the software I used to work with this website (as I mentioned in this previous post), so in order to get back to updating the site again I would have to reinstall Jekyll. That’s where the problems began, I ran into issue after issue when trying to get Jekyll to function on my computer. Finally I’d had enough and started looking for other tools for generating static websites.

Haaaaaave you met Hugo?

Hugo is another tool to create static websites. It took a little fiddling around to set up but really nothing at all compared to Jekyll. A few hours later and I’ve now transferred over all the content from the old Jekyll-based site to this Hugo site, and I think half of that time was probably spent on finding a good and similar-looking theme to start from.

Now, finally able to work with the site again, I need to update some of the now outdated info and then I can hopefully start writing some blog posts again. A lot has happened in the last 5+ years. I’ve moved from Gothenburg to Stockholm, I’m now (finally) in the games industry, and I’ve realized that some game-dev related stuff is surprisingly hard to find on the internet. This site may just be a very small drop in a very big digital ocean, but maybe I can make a small contribution and write down some of that very-hard-to-find stuff.
