Whelp. I started my own solo game studio: Oxybear Games
For a long time now I’ve wanted to do something with my own game ideas. Working in a decently sized game studio like Paradox Interactive is great: I have extremely talented and kind colleagues, I get to do very fun and challenging work on games that I love. But at the same time I also have game ideas that I want to explore, ideas and designs that simply don’t fit in the context of the games I work with at my day job.

Say hello to Hugo
Where to start? It’s been a long time now since I last touched this website. So long ago that I’ve had time to reinstall my computer twice, I think, and during those reinstalls, my Jekyll setup was lost. Jekyll is the software I used to work with this website (as I mentioned in this previous post), so in order to get back to updating the site again I would have to reinstall Jekyll. That’s where the problems began, I ran into issue after issue when trying to get Jekyll to function on my computer. Finally I’d had enough and started looking for other tools for generating static websites.

The usability of Bayesian networks
Statistics! No matter what you think about it, no matter if you like it or not, you cannot say that statistics isn’t useful! If you haven’t worked with statistics very much, some of it may feel a little blurry but when it comes to modeling uncertainty, you can’t get away from probabilities.

Localization in robotics
Imagine that you’re standing in your living room with your eyes closed. Now, you might have a mental map of the room and where the furniture are, but would you be able to move around the room without looking and without touching objects to feel where you are? How many steps would you have to take before you’re no longer sure exactly where you are? Not that many, I imagine.
